Life Casting Compounds
Body Double
Body Double “Standard Set” and “Fast
set” are non-toxic, odourless long lasting silicone
rubbers that can be applied directly to the skin to make moulds
of the face, hands and other body parts. The rubber cures quickly and will reproduce
perfect detail from any original model – far better
detail than any alginate! Body Double will last for many
castings of almost any material including plaster, Matrix Neo,
wax, urethane and polyester resins, low-temperature melt metal
alloys, etc. Since the amount of Body Double used per mould is
less than most alginates, so the cost per mould is about the
same.
Alja-Safe
Alja-Safe is a
new addition to the Smooth-On family of “Life
casting” mould making materials. Alja-Safe is suitable for making “temporary”
moulds of the face, hands and other body parts. Does not contain
free crystalline silica (a known carcinogen). Alja-Safe is a 1 part
Alja-Safe Powder : 1 part Warm Water by volume mix ratio. Use
of warm water will reduce working and demold times, whereas,
cooler water will extend working and demold times. Cured mould
will yield one or two reproductions of any body part. You can
then cast plasters, Matrix Neo (polymer modified gypsum) or
Smooth-Cast 300Q fast urethane resin into the mould to make a
reproduction.
Body Double™
“Apply-to-Skin” Mould Rubber
Body Double™ “Standard
Set” and Body Double™ “Fast Set” are long lasting silicone rubbers that can
be applied directly to the skin to make molds of the face,
hands and other body parts. The rubber cures quickly and will
reproduce perfect detail from any original model – far
better detail than any alginate!
One casting or many… for about the
same price: unlike alginates, which are good for only one
casting, Body Double™ will last for many castings of
almost any material including plaster, Matrix Neo, wax, resins
(Smooth-Cast urethanes, polyester, etc.), low-temperature melt
metal alloys, etc. and the amount of Body Double™ used per
mold is less than most alginates, so the cost per mold is about
the same.

Body Double™ Release Cream
Available in Body Double Release Cream:
1-oz. & 3.5-oz. sizes.
Body Double™ mold rubber will not
readily stick to the skin, but will encapsulate body hair. Not
using Body Double Release Cream or using the wrong release
cream may be a very painful experience! Body Double Release
Cream is a special blend of skin-safe, skin-softening
conditioners that will not inhibit curing and will ensure that
Body Double™ rubber will release from the body. A little
goes a long way. A 3.5-oz. jar is more than enough to coat your
entire body.

Plaster Bandages for Support Shells
Plaster bandage material is immersed in
water and layered over the cured Body Double™ mould
rubber. Bandages dry and form a rigid support shell (or
“mother mould”) that holds the rubber mould in
shape during the casting process.

Dispensing Guns for 400 ml Cartridges
Dispensing guns hold Body Double 400 ml
cartridges and force the Parts A & B through a static
mixing tube. Squeeze the handles of the manual gun, pull the
trigger on the pneumatic gun. The pneumatic gun requires that
you have an air compressor with 100 psi minimum, and is
excellent for frequent moulders and larger projects.

Static Mixing Tubes
